~YOUR CHILDREN AND MOUTH GUARDS~
It is exciting to see our kids playing sports around our community! But, it makes us shudder when we see a child take an elbow, ball or a bull’s horn to the mouth!! Mouth guards are a simple solution to the tragedy of broken teeth or tooth loss. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. Properly fitted mouth guards are recommended for all activities that require gear. Mouth guards come in cool colors, team colors and even animal designs. Come see us for your “COOL” mouth guard!

Mountain Dew Mouth
This is a condition from daily drinking of Mountain Dew. In the Appalachia Mountains of Kentucky, Mountain Dew has been used as an anti-depressant. Babies go to bed with bottles full of Mountain Dew, toddlers walk around with sippy cups full of Mountain Dew, Kids and teens sip on Mountain Dew at their lockers & school desks. This results in a mouth full of decay. Its appearance is similar to “Meth Mouth”. The name Mountain Dew Mouth is misleading, because this condition can happen with daily consumption of ANY soda, sports drink or sweetened coffee or tea. Please encourage your kids and family to drink water—it’s cheaper and better for you!!

FAQ: About Washington Dental Insurance Changes
Q: Since you are not taking my insurance anymore what do I do?
A: We are still taking your insurance and we will still bill your insurance. WDS has made it sound as if we will no longer be doing this for you since we will not be a preferred provider, but this is not true. You may have a co-pay, where before you may not have had one.
Q: How much will my co-pays be now?
A: We do not have the answer at this time. We hope to know more as we see benefits being paid, probably closer to the end of January. Please feel free to contact your insurance for a co-pay amount.
Q: Who takes my insurance now? Who is a Preferred Provider?
A: You will have to call your insurance company to find out who is a preferred provider in your area. They will have a list of dentists for you.
Q: Will I have to submit my own claims now?
A: No you do not have to submit your own claims, we will still do this for you if you wish.
Q: Is the incentive plan still in place with my insurance?
A: You must go at least one time per year to keep your incentive plan (if you have one) before your renewal date. Each renewal date varies, so please check with your HR person or your insurance company to make sure you do not miss your renewal date. If it is missed then your percentage will drop to a different rate. Each person’s plan varies so please contact your insurance company.
Q: What does all of this mean if we are double covered?
A: There again, all insurance plans vary. Please check with your insurance company for the answer. From the best of our knowledge, the insurance company will pick up the maximum allowed for each procedure. If this is not covered then you will have a co-pay of some type, even if you are double covered.
